i am... well no.. i have been in this little "funk" i guess you could say, about the direction my life is headed in for awhile now. i suppose my insecurities are getting the best of me. but at least i am sleeping a lot. and grinding my nose hard into books. i guess there is always an upside to being a bit saddened.

so... according to the grand and just system at my lovely work, you are only guaranteed hours, when you sell and push credit cards onto people. never-mind that you worked your ass off stocking and maintaining merchandise so that customers ACTUALLY SPEND money. and completely forget that you come in and worked doubles when you are technically not suppose to be working at all. oh, and don't even bother organizing and straightening everything that has been put off for a year. it won't mean a thing if you aren't ruining someones credit score so your damn manager can get a 8,000 dollar bonus at the end of the month. heaven forbid you are a concerned individual.

a question for our little heads. [Aug. 29th, 2006|09:38 pm]
why is it okay to do experimentation on animals to further our scientific knowledge, but it is NOT okay to do experimentation on aborted fetuses? i understand the great advancements we have taken due to the sacrifice of lab animals, but were they willing participants? or furthermore, where most of the tests really needed? i understand the code of ethics used by scientists, and i also understand the egos humanity possesses. we cannot hurt ourselves to further knowledge, but we can hurt those of a different species. talk about ethnocentrism. how it is unfit to do experiments on a nonliving being whose potential could possibly cure so many diseases, but it is okay to give a chimp aids just to watch the side effects? give me an answer, because my professor sure as hell couldn't.

there was a girl tonight. whose hands were much more older than her face. a girl of twenty. a mind of fifty. her eyes always sad. always red and puffy. a sign of hardly any sleep. rapped at 11. child at 12. abandoned at 16. welfare denied. minimum wage. no health insurance, no benefits.
"when i was a little girl, i dreamed of ballets. sword fighting men who would wisp me off into some sun set in a far off land. i never thought of being here. i never pictured such pain. i never pictured a life without my mother.. "
